CHARM in Concert: Music of the California Missions

Thornton Baroque Sinfonia directed by Adam Knight Gilbert and Jason Yoshida

Featuring the music of Rafael Antonio Castellanos, music of the Missions of California and songs of the Mexican Son jarocho tradition with singer David Morales, and Guest Ensemble Son Tios (Jorge Andresge Herrera, Federico Zúñiga, Victor Murillo, and Laura Cambron)

This concert will present music from the Missions of Latin America and California, and will explore connections with musical traditions today.

USC Thornton's early music ensemble, the Baroque Sinfonia, presents a matinee featuring music from Guatemala, Mexico and California, led by faculty members Adam Knight Gilbert and Jason Yoshida. Joined by vocalist David Morales and the ensemble Son Tios, the Baroque Sinfonia will perform music of Rafael Antonio Castellanos and the Missions of California as well as songs in Mexico's son jarocho tradition.
